To show our appreciation for our "sweet" staff on National Caregivers Day, the tenants made some treat bags that were given out at lunch time. We are so thankful for all of our amazing staff and the wonderful job they do!

Valentines Day brought lots of smiles with a steak and shrimp dinner topped off with red velvet cake and sparkling punch, prepared by our great kitchen staff; we crowned our King and Queen of Hearts and ended the day with the wonderful toe-tapping music of A Touch of Broadway!

Don and Evie present a check for over $2000 to Lynn from Cherokee Regional Medical Center Hospice. The money was raised from our annual Garden of Trees and Wreaths event.  "Every year we have a great turn out and really appreciate the community supporting us and hospice. It goes to a great cause and they are great service in our community. We are fortunate to be able to utilize such a wonderful service here at The Gardens." Said Gardens Director, Jana Utesch.

A wonderful time was had by all at our 2018 Tenant Christmas party. Santa delivered presents to every tenant, then we enjoyed live entertainment by the talented Opal Wharton. We followed the show with cookies, cake and punch.

In April, CRMC Hospice held a special pinning ceremony for one of our tenants, Bill. Bill is a US Navy veteran who served in 2 wars, Korea and WWII. Pictured below is Meagan Foresman and Matt Johnson of CRMC recognizing Bill for his service. Thank you CRMC for all you do for our tenants and veterans!

Did you know we have some of the highest food satisfaction rates in the state? We are always serving fresh fruits and veggies at our salad bar which is available every day for lunch and supper!

Easter at The Gardens was a very HOPPY time! We had a magic show, face painting and an Easter egg hunt. So much fun was had by everyone!

We had so much fun at our 8th annual pie contest! We had 9 entries this year. We had: caramel apple, chocolate pecan, banana cream, blue berry, apple, butterscotch, peanut butter mousse, grasshopper and strawberry pies.

And our winner was Andrea Cook! Andrea stayed up until midnight the night before making her mother's recipe for apple pie, and it paid off! She won $50, dish towels and a years worth of bragging rights!

The Gardens staff and tenants took part in the State of Iowa Healthiest State Initiative. We walked 2 laps around the building, equaling about a half mile! Also, what a beautiful view we have here!

We had a great Halloween at The Gardens. First we had Mrs. Trisha Vannatta's pre school class join us for a story, a game of hot potato and a goodie bag. We also had trick or treating open to the public that evening. We had so many kids come we almost ran out of candy!

The kids playing hot potato, and the tenants watching!

Goodie bags!

So many yummy choices!

It is that time of the year when apples are plentiful and delicious. Pictured is George and Elsie peeling apples to bake apple cinnamon rolls! Yum!

Thanks to Jodi from the CRMC Wellness Center for teaching another exercise class for us! We always have fun moving!

We had a great time when former Mayor, Mark Murphy, joined us for community coffee with Mud on Main coffee and cinnamon rolls! Thanks for coming, Mark!
