In April, CRMC Hospice held a special pinning ceremony for one of our tenants, Bill. Bill is a US Navy veteran who served in 2 wars, Korea and WWII. Pictured below is Meagan Foresman and Matt Johnson of CRMC recognizing Bill for his service. Thank you CRMC for all you do for our tenants and veterans! 

 

 

 

Did you know we have some of the highest food satisfaction rates in the state? We are always serving fresh fruits and veggies at our salad bar which is available every day for lunch and supper! 

 

Easter at The Gardens was a very HOPPY time!

We had a magic show, face painting and an Easter egg hunt. So much fun was had by everyone! 

 

 

We had so much fun at our 8th annual pie contest! See the photos below.


We had 9 entries this year. We had: caramel apple, chocolate pecan, banana cream, blue berry, apple, butterscotch, peanut butter mousse, grasshopper and strawberry pies.

And our winner was Andrea Cook! Andrea stayed up until midnight the night before making her mother's recipe for apple pie, and it paid off! She won $50, dish towels and a years worth of bragging rights!
 

(Above) Pictures from our 2017 Tenant Christmas party. Santa delivered presents to every tenant, then we enjoyed live entertainment by the talented Allyn Anderson. We followed the show with cookies, cupcakes and punch. It was a wonderful time!

 

Lois, a tenant at The Gardens, presents $1950 to Lynn and Megan of CRMC Hospice. They money was raised from our annual Garden of Trees event.

Some of the tenants our for monthly resident council meeting. We love giving our tenants a platform for make change in our community.

 

The Gardens staff and tenants took part in the State of Iowa Healthiest State Initiative. We walked 2 laps around the building, equaling about a half mile! Also, what a beautiful view we have here!

Bill Leach, a Gardens tenant, presents a check for over $900 to Tonya and Korrie from CRMC Hospice. The check was money raised by our Garden of Trees annual fundraiser. "Every year we have a great turn out and really appreciate the community supporting us and hospice. It goes to a great cause and they are great service in our community. We are fortunate to be able to utilize such a wonderful service here at The Gardens." Said Gardens Director, Jana Utesch.

 

We had a great Halloween at The Gardens. First we had Mrs. Trisha Vannatta's pre school class join us for a story, a game of hot potato and a goodie bag. We also had trick or treating open to the public that evening. We had so many kids come we almost ran out of candy!

It is that time of the year when apples are plentiful and delicious. Pictured is George and Elsie peeling apples to bake apple cinnamon rolls! Yum!

 


Thanks to Jodi from the CRMC Wellness Center for teaching another exercise class for us! We always have fun moving!

 


We had a great time when former Mayor, Mark Murphy, joined us for community coffee with Mud on Main coffee and cinnamon rolls! Thanks for coming, Mark!

 

 

 



This spot is right where you can find Hertha every Wednesday. On Wednesday's we bake, and Hertha is known for her delicious cookies!

Rodeo Parade 2016! We had staff, tenants and volunteers ride along on our float this year! Special thanks to Grand Meadow Heritage Center for letting us use your wagon!
